  • Flexibility/Mobility

  • Strength/Stabilization

  • Basic technique

  • Movement patterns

A customized program will be created to address the areas of need identified in the assessment with routine follow-up as requested/scheduled to progress the program. Goals: performance improvement, skills improvement and injury risk reduction.

Workshops

Workshops are available for dance studios, cheer and gymnastics gyms and other active settings and can be tailored to students, teachers and/or parents. A variety of topics are available and additional topic areas can be added upon request. Pricing varies based on the length of the workshop and includes all student materials (generally worksheets or a workbook and potentially tools such as thera-bands). Each workshop can accommodate up to 20 individuals. You can view a full list of current workshop options here.

One on One Physical Therapy Services

Physical Therapy services are available in Sparta, NJ and Augusta, NJ. I am a licensed Physical Therapist in NJ (License number 40QA01092300).

I have over 20 years experience as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist working with a variety of diagnoses across the lifespan. My practice aims to fill some gaps in the local physical therapy space by providing high quality physical therapy services for patient populations who typically do not have specialized care available. We see all athletes and diagnoses, but specialize in the following populations:

  • Dancers

  • Cheerleaders

  • Gymnasts

  • Runners

  • Equestrians

  • Female athletes across the lifespan

  • Return to sport post-partum

In addition to generalized orthopedic physical therapy we also provide pelvic floor physical therapy services, offering both internal and external evaluation and treatment techniques to effectively evaluate, treat, and re-train pelvic floor dysfunction. Pelvic floor physical therapy services are only available in our Augusta location. To request more information about any of the above services, please contact us.

Screenings

Free injury screenings are available year round. These screenings are 20 minutes long and give a quick overview of deficits found, assessment of pain complaints or other limitations with recommendations given for next steps. These screenings are available in our clinic locations AND can be booked for blocks of time at your gym, fitness or dance studio and at local community events.

A wellness screen is a 60 minute 1:1 assessment of the athlete’s strength, mobility, flexibility, movement strategies and basic technique. Broad recommendations for training focus areas and a summary of findings will be given to the client. Findings can also be provided to teachers/coaches upon request.

**Screenings are not a physical therapy evaluation. Prescriptive exercise or other treatment will not be given during these sessions. In order to receive any treatment advice, a physical therapy evaluation must be scheduled.

Pointe Readiness Screening

A Pointe Readiness Screening is a 60 minute 1:1 assessment of the dancer’s foot and ankle mobility, flexibility, strength, core stability and basic technique with the goal of determining readiness to go en pointe. Students will be given a report of findings to provide to their teacher as well as a summary of the assessment to help with decision making around moving the student into pointe work. Pointe readiness screenings are available in Sparta, NJ or at your studio.

Pointe Shoe Pre-Fitting Profile

A pre-fitting profile is a single 30 minute session where measures of the dancer’s foot and ankle characteristics will be assessed and recorded on a foot profile worksheet. This worksheet can be provided to the fitter to assist with shoe selection for the dancer. Having this information will give the fitter a much more detailed picture of the dancer’s foot characteristics and aid in shoe selection. This can be especially helpful in first time fittings, when coming back from an injury or for someone who is having a difficult time getting a good fit. Some of the things that will be assessed and recorded (among others) include:

  • Foot length and width

  • Pointe range

  • Foot type

  • Toe length

  • Foot strength

  • Foot compressibility

  • Pointe experience and prior shoe models used (if known)
